Home Automation
What is home automation? In short, it's taking what use to be individual aspects of your home and making them all work together. A perfect example would be lights and security. Years ago, no one ever thought of the two as one. But recently, through making your home “smart” we've been able to use lights to turn your home in a haven of security. Simple things like turning on all the exterior lights at motion (instead of just a single light), creating vacation modes (read about under lighting control), and allowing you to monitor the status of your lights whether you are in or away from your home. This is just a simple example to show how two items can interact with each other.
But what if we take that to another level? Let's say we centrally control your Audio, Video, Lights, Security, HVAC, Pool, Cameras, Network, and Phones. The possibilities are endless.
Just imagine:
The door bell rings, your touchpanels come on, your cameras switch to the front door revealing who's at the door while the lights in the foyer slowly dim up.
You push a single button when you leave your house for a vacation and your lights go into a vacation mode recalling learned events throughout the day to mimic someone still home. Your Pool temperature is set back. Your AC or Heating Temperature is set back to save energy. You security system begins to monitor everything and send you pages if something occurs.
Motion detectors from the security system turn on lights in the hallway so little ones don't trip at night.
A single button press will turn on your favorite movie, adjust the audio, dim the lights, turn your phones off. If the doorbell rings, the movie is automatically paused. That's automation. With a little imagination, what you thought was sci-fi, could be a reality in your home.
